About Lintonville Medical Group

LMG was formed in 1968 when a number of Family Doctors in Ashington came together to provide medical services to the community. The original principles of providing patient care of the highest quality through team work as well as being a Teaching Practice, remain to this day. We are keen to support the NHS and provide training for all whilst ensuring we keep up to date with medical developments. The original house is now only used for administration purposes as a ground floor purpose-built extension provides disabled access to all our medical services, including NHS Community Staff such as District Nurse, Midwife, Health Visitors, Dietitian and Podiatry not to mention a hundred hour Pharmacy.

We pride ourselves on actively supporting medical and technical developments including the Quality and Outcomes Framework. This website is intended to provide patients with easy access to information about the Practice and the services we provide, as well as providing  important current information such as updates on health protection issues or the dates of flu vaccine clinics.

The Practice has an agreed boundary with the NHS which ensures that all patients registered with us will have access to community services and, if necessary, can be provided with a home visit.

Should you live outside this boundary and would like to find out which General Practice covers your area please go to www.nhs.uk

On 1 April 2017, Lintonville Medical Group joined forces with two other GP Practices in Northumberland to form Valens Medical Partnership. As the NHS changes, merging some of our management functions should help us collectively deliver the highest quality of care.

Your local practice is still your local practice

You are still registered with your doctor at Lintonville Medical Group. Nothing has changed and you don’t need to do anything. You can still contact your local surgery in all of the usual ways.

Can I still see my usual doctor or nurse?

Yes, in fact we encourage all patients with recurrent, ongoing or long-term conditions to see the same doctor, nurse or allied health professional wherever possible. This enables us to give you the best possible care at each visit. Providing patients with high quality care remains our number one priority.

Can I attend other surgeries?

You should continue to attend the practice you are registered with just as before. Unfortunately you cannot attend other GP practices for routine medical appointments, even if those practices are also part of Valens Medical Partnership.

Valens Medical Partnership does offer a range of specialist services that can help prevent patients having to attend hospital for certain problems. These clinics may be based at other local GP practices. If you need them your GP will refer you directly for an appointment where necessary, thereby helping you to benefit from local diagnosis and/or treatment.

Is a private company taking over my GP practice?

No. Valens Medical Partnership is wholly run and controlled by the same local family doctors who run your current surgery. We are a partnership of local GPs, all of whom are extremely proud to work for the NHS.

Who do I contact if I have any further questions?

Our Practice Managers can answer any further queries you may have. They can be contacted through your local surgery as normal.
